As a Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr. Bergeson has specialized training in both psychotherapy as well as neuropsycholgical evaluations.
Psychotherapy
Dr. Bergeson works with adolescents and adults in both individual and couples' therapy.
In individual therapy current stressors are identified and clients are helped to identify and implement changes.
When working with couples techniques including promoting a safe environment for conflict
resolution, improving communication techniques and finding ways to resolve differences.
Neuropsychological Evaluations
Early identification is vital in helping children succeed academically as well as socially.
Autism and other developmental disorders can be identified prior to beginning school, and
dyslexia and ADHD can be identified as early as kindergarten. Signs pointing to these disorders
can be identified even earlier. The earlier children begin the appropriate course of treatment
the less chance there is of later problems with learning and/or self-esteem.
While early identification is ideal there are times when problems do not become apparent until
adolescence or even adulthood.
In addition to evaluations geared towards academic success, neuropsychological testing is
also a valuable component in assessing cognitive functioning after a traumatic brain injury, concussion, or during the course of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
